Mr. L. P. Anthony Joseph
Mr. L. P. Anthony Joseph is a senior sports administrator and one of the most experienced leaders in volleyball governance in Karnataka. With over four decades of dedicated service, he has played a pivotal role in strengthening grassroots sports, developing athletes, and building sustainable sports institutions.
Born on 11 April 1961 at Bowring Hospital, Bangalore, Mr. Joseph was educated at Gulabi Primary School, St. Xavier’s High School, and Government Science College, Bangalore. He holds a Diploma in Automobile Engineering from the Indian Technical Institute. From an early age, he demonstrated exceptional commitment to both academics and sports.
As an athlete, Mr. Joseph represented volleyball at the state level, earning recognition as Best Player during his school years. He also competed in district-level Kabbadi and represented Brothers Cricket Club as a leading batsman and bowler. His sporting career included representation for prestigious clubs and institutions across Karnataka and Maharashtra, and he was selected for Maharashtra State (Junior – Under 18) as well as Karnataka State.
Mr. Joseph began his journey in sports administration in 1979 and was instrumental in the formation and development of the Karnataka State Volleyball Association. He holds the unique distinction of having served as an office bearer in four district volleyball associations — Bangalore Urban, Bangalore Rural, Kolar, and Ramanagar — a rare achievement in the state.
He currently serves as General Secretary, Karnataka Volleyball Association where his leadership continues to drive organizational growth, athlete welfare, and competitive excellence.
In addition to volleyball, Mr. Joseph has made significant contributions to bodybuilding and fitness development. He has served as Organising Secretary, South India Bodybuilding & Fitness Association, and General Secretary, Karnataka Bodybuilding & Fitness Association, mentoring athletes who have gone on to become national-level trainers and professionals in the Indian film industry.
Recognized for his integrity, administrative vision, and lifelong commitment to sports, Mr. L. P. Anthony Joseph continues to be a guiding force in shaping the future of volleyball and sports development in Karnataka.
