President, Karnataka Volleyball Association
Harsha R, the current President of the Karnataka Volleyball Association (KVA), represents a blend of rich legacy, deep playing experience, and a progressive vision for the future of volleyball in the state.
He is the son of the legendary Karnataka volleyball player and coach Mr. Ramachandramurty, who was a backbone of the Karnataka Volleyball Association and played a crucial role in its administration and development over several decades. Growing up in such an environment, Harsha R was naturally drawn to the sport and its values of discipline, teamwork, and excellence.
Harsha began his volleyball journey as a player, representing Karnataka at all levels, from Mini Nationals to Senior Nationals. He also represented the state in Federation Cup competitions and National Games, gaining extensive exposure and firsthand experience of competitive volleyball at the highest levels in the country.
As President of KVA, Harsha R has outlined several forward-looking initiatives aimed at the overall development of volleyball in Karnataka. His plans include organizing specialized coaching camps, introducing modern training methodologies, and digitalizing the entire operations of the association to improve transparency, efficiency, and accessibility.
A strong advocate of fairness and merit, Harsha is committed to strengthening the merit-based selection process for state teams. In a significant step toward empowering women in sports administration, he has also proposed restructuring the women’s selection committee by ensuring it consists entirely of women members.
Further reflecting his proactive leadership, Harsha R has held discussions with the Volleyball Federation of India (VFI) regarding the possibility of hosting major All-India volleyball competitions in Karnataka in the coming days, which would greatly benefit players, coaches, and the volleyball ecosystem in the state.
With a strong foundation, hands-on experience as a player, and a clear developmental roadmap, Harsha R is poised to lead Karnataka volleyball into a new era of growth and professionalism.
